Solace Grief Support Program Feature
Solace’s Men’s Grief Support Program is a based in the Foothills and is focused on creating a safe space for men to openly discuss grief and loss. Solace Grief Support Society offers a Men’s Grief Support Group in both Okotoks and High River for anyone coping with the loss of a loved one, partner, friend, family member, or pet.
Counsellor and program facilitator Ken explains that many men hesitate to seek help due to societal expectations to remain strong and silent. The group encourages participants to experience, express, and understand their grief alongside others with similar experiences.
The Okotoks men’s group is relatively new but steadily growing. Once men attend, Farthing notes, they tend to return because the group environment is powerful and supportive.
